The aha moment...

"Of course, in the really long perspective nothing is sustainable!"

A friend and mi reached the exact conclusion a while back. The next question was then why even try to survive? And the two of us took out very different morals from that evening.

I tried to explain that because we are sentient beings and have a choice to make (the degree of sapience and sentience is debatable but we do have some), it is our responsibility to make a choice, because we can perceive the consequences. Because we are living organisms and living organisms cannot voluntarily chose to die. If they do so there would be none left.(That is what is going to happen if the status quo remains)

But no, its the easy way out... leave it to the holy trinity to save us... God/Technology/Someone...

Yes, life abides... life abides and thrives in a continuously evolving equilibrium... life thrives because its only constant is that it repeatedly chooses to change its ways.

The Change Will Come(pun intended)... whether we like/want it or not... we can either chose to accept it and make the transition voluntarily or we can wait for it to be forced onto us in ways which are rather unmentionable.

I continue to hope and try whatever I can... even as things get more and more out of hand... because really Mr. Morbus all we have in our hands are our own hands and what we can do with them...

I really enjoy reading your thoughts... they have led to many insights... thank you.

Sustainability is a great concept to embody both economically and environmentally. it is the only true savior to our economy; check out [deleted advertisement] to see this concept in action.
